The event is almost here

Here is a FAQ section regarding the event.

Where do I meet for the event?

Humble Pie in Long Creek; 14239 Long Creek Hwy, Long Creek, SC 29658

When is the event?

July 19, 2025

What section of the Chattooga will the event be on?

Section 3.5 - From Thrifts to Woodall

What is section 3.5 like? What should my skill level be?

This is a beginner-friendly section until you get to Bull Sluice. Anyone can walk “the bull” and then from there to Woodall, would be considered more of an intermediate (class 3) section. A solid, consistent roll is important to have. You can also decide to take out at the Bull, just please reach out if that is your need.

Can I bring my inflatable kayak as I don't feel comfortable in a hard boat?

Absolutely!

Where can I find full details about the event?

Full details are at: https://paddleinpink.com/our-events/dirty-bird-confidence-series/

Do I need to register?

Not really but we do need a waiver filled out. This is our way of knowing how many are planning attend which helps us set up our shuttle drivers. https://paddleinpink.com/our-events/dirty-bird-confidence-series/#waivers

Where do all proceeds go?

Helene Restore Collaborative - Helene Rebuild Collaborative now concentrates on creating sustainable housing solutions, including delivering RVs to families, renovating damaged homes, and rebuilding houses destroyed by the storm.

What if I don't want to attend all events?

Not a problem. Just come for the parts that you are interested in and support in any way you can!

I can't make the event but I want to donate, how can I do that??

You can make a donation through Venmo - @Crystal-Gustin-1 If you don't feel comfortable with this method, reach out and we can make it happen.

Can I camp?

Yes, we have a great group site reserved at Chattooga Sounds. We have the kitchen reserved and there is a bath house. https://form.jotform.com/251376628424158

What should I bring?

If you are coming to the yoga, bring a mat. If you don't have one, just reach out. Bring a camping chair as seating is limited for the speakers. Of course if you are hitting the river, bring all your gear including your throw rope. Days like this can get long so make sure to break water and plenty of snacks. You can also purchase food at Humble Pie and at their coffee shop!

Can guys come?

Sorry, this is an all-female event and we want to keep the event to support the small female whitewater community.

I started kayaking in Wisconsin of all places, because this is where I am from. I then moved to San Diego and took on kayak surfing along with heading to the Kern River when water was available. I then made the move to Asheville, NC and have been hooked on this sport since my Wisconsin days. With whatever it is that you do, do it because you love it, not because society tells you should or for other outside factors. Don't simply exist, live!
